The Dew Over: 1973

For those of you who don't already know, I've been participating in a new Podcast series created by Jamie Dew called The Dew Over. The premise is simple, but Jamie explains it best...The Dew Over - 1973

The Dew Over is a weekly podcast aimed at righting the wrongs of movie and pop culture history. Pretty high falutin, isn’t it?

Most episodes I’ll get together with some interesting people and talk about a particular year in Oscar history. If you’re like me, you find the Oscars is a confusing beast. Is it art? Is it pop culture? Is it tripe? I don’t really know from year to year, but what I do know is that when we’re invaded by aliens 4000 years from now, the movies that the Academy has deemed best in show each year will have formed a kind of canon. My thinking is we use this panel power to discuss whether or not the Academy got it right.

In the process of debating not only the Oscar winner of any given year, we'll debate the Oscar nominees as a whole, and potentially redo that year's Academy Awards all together. As a sideline, Jamie plans to use his panel of experts to create what he's calling The Kid Canon. He has two young daughters, who I believe are 4 years old and under. The idea is to create his own little bundle of films to show the girls by the time they reach 18. He'll be using one of our suggestions per episode, and plans to accumulate a hefty and diverse list.

Give us a listen, and subscribe at iTunes. And for now, I leave you with the first Dew Over Podcast - 1973! Did The Sting hold onto its title? You'll have to listen and see!
