Hi, I’m Ariel Fisher!

I’m a freelance writer, editor, podcaster, and film festival juror available for hire. Most recently, I was the Managing Editor of FANGORIA Magazine and the evening News Editor at /Film. I’ve worked as a freelance writer since 2009, writing for outlets such as Rue Morgue, Birth.Movies.Death., CBC Comedy, FANGORIA, and /Film.

I started writing for FANGORIA Magazine in 2018 as their freelance Canadian correspondent, conducting set visits for films like The Invisible Man, The Grudge, and The Craft: Legacy. I also spent two years as the editor of Shudder’s weekly newsletter, The Bite, from June 2019 to August 2021.

I’ve participated in multiple critics polls for outlets like BBC Culture and IndieWire and I contributed to the book Yuletide Terror: Christmas Horror on Film and Television. I’ve hosted two podcasts of my own, A Frame Apart and After All: A Mary Tyler Moore Podcast. I’ve also had the absolute pleasure of being a guest on many podcasts including Horror Queers, The Matinee Cast, the /FilmCast, the Paper Street Podcast, and Psychoanalysis: A Horror Therapy Podcast.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of attending several film festivals including TIFF and Fantastic Fest. I’ve also served as a jury member at Fantasia Film Festival, Popcorn Frights Film Festival, and the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival.
